Scientific Art~tistic Science is a science based art concept to disseminate information about the intricate structure of the brain to the general public through art.
Integrating photography and drawings aided by digital software this project will translate the vast jungle of the universe of the brain from the microscope to an artistic rendering expressed in art form palatable by everyone with diverse training backgrounds.
Brain cells called “neurons” can be distinguished by labeling them with various tools. These tools range from impregnating neurons with silver chromate to manipulating their genetic makeup to express fluorescent proteins isolated from bioluminescent jellyfish. Such tools enable us to visualize and photograph the structure of the brain.
The deductive training of a scientist is complemented by the intuitions evoked by the artwork. To this end, combining the two disciplines provides both an education outlet for the public as well as new avenues for further experimentation.
